Ten Arrested In Hilo Gambling Raid 12-22-00

On Thursday (December 21, 2000) Vice officers ended a six-week long gambling investigation with a raid on a Hilo business.

At 12:48 a.m., officers served a search warrant at Reyn’s Repair, at 831 Leilani Street and interrupted a “craps” dice game. Police arrested ten persons and recovered a “craps” table, gambling devices and more than $9,000 in cash.

Persons arrested for gambling offenses include: Roy Williams, M-33, Ty Motobu, M-41, Reynold Kahalewai, M-28, Neil Abregano, M-39, Andrew Watanabe, M-50, Aaron Jitchaku, M-43, James Macomber, M-28, Samuel Kamahele, M-30, and Keleonahe Chung, M-26, all of Hilo and Fortunado Pabre, M-21, and Fortunado Pabre Jr., M-45, of Puna. All individuals were released pending further investigation.

Police are continuing their investigation and numerous individuals involved in prior “craps” dice games at the Leilani Street location will be sought.
