Three arrested in Puna ‘ice’ bust 12-23-03

Big Island police arrested three people Monday (December 22, 2003) for various drug offenses and outstanding warrants during the execution of a drug search warrant in Keaau, Puna.

During the drug bust at a residence on Pohaku Place, East Hawaii Vice Section officers arrested Russell Aiona, 41, Joshua Shin, 28, and Joseph Shin, 34, on five counts of promoting a dangerous drug, two counts of promoting a detrimental drug, five counts of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of promoting a detrimental drug.

They also confiscated 0.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice,” 6.1 grams of dried marijuana, various glass smoking pipes, plastic resealable packets and rolling papers.

All three were released without bail pending further investigation after vice officers conferred with county prosecutors on a charging decision against them for possession of the 0.6 grams of “ice.”
