Two of four people arrested in a drug bust in Ka’u Thursday (April 22, 2004) will be transported to Honolulu on Monday to face federal prosecution on drug charges.

The two suspects are Michael Delos Santos, 25, of Waiohinu, and David Akana, 57, of Pahala.

The other two suspects — Gary Delos Santos, 56, of Waiohinu, and William Lawson, 53, of Honolulu — were released Saturday pending further investigation.

On Thursday, West Hawaii Vice Section and Ice Task Force officers arrested Michael Delos Santos, Lawson and Akana for a variety of drug offenses after executing a search warrant for narcotics at a residence in Waiohinu.

Gary Delos Santos was arrested Friday after he was located working at an elementary school where he was employed.

During the investigation, officers seized 468.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice”; a small amount of marijuana and an unknown powder substance; 15 unknown pills; and “ice” pipes, Ziploc bags, scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Officers also seized $566 in cash and a vehicle for possible forfeiture.

Police encourage residents to call the Vice/Drug Hotlines to report possible illicit drug use and distribution. The telephone numbers are answered 24 hours a day. In West Hawaii, the number is 329-“ZERO-ICE” (329-0423); in East Hawaii, the number is 934-“VICE” (934-8423).
