Big Island police arrested two persons for a variety of drug offenses after serving a search warrant Tuesday (June 1, 2004) on a Hilo business.

Officers from the East Hawaii Ice Task Force, East Hawaii Vice Section and Criminal Intelligence Unit arrested the two suspects after serving a search warrant on the G&G Machining and Waipio Valley Shuttles, a company located on Leilani Street.

The suspects — identified as Gary Matsuo, 40, and Gary Vasconcellos, 38, both of Hilo — were arrested after officers recovered 39.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice,” 1.4 grams of marijuana and $700 in cash.

Matsuo was charged Wednesday with first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, promotion of a detrimental drug and three counts of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released from custody after posting $15,500 bail.

Vasconcellos was released pending further investigation.
