An 82-year-old Puna man died Tuesday (December 9, 2003) after apparently falling from a cliff onto the rocky beach at Wittington Beach Park in Honuapo, Ka’u.

The victim was identified as Alexander Harris Jr., of a Pahoa, Puna, address.

Harris apparently fell from a cliff about 35 feet above the beach area.

Fire Department paramedics attempting to resuscitate the victim took him to the Ka’u Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m.

Police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
