A male visitor from Minnesota was reported in stable condition after fracturing his coccyx Sunday (January 5, 2002) while jumping off Rainbow Falls in Hilo.

The victim, identified as Ryan Meeker, 23, of Winona, Minnesota, was jumping off the falls about 5 p.m. when he apparently landed on rocks below and fractured his coccyx.

Responding police and fire rescue personnel took the injured man to the Hilo Medical Center. Later he was flown to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, where he was reported in stable condition.
