…charged with drug offenses

Media Release

A 24-year-old Kailua-Kona woman and a 26-year-old California man were arrested for drug offenses Monday (April 12).

Following a traffic stop at 10 a.m. on Route 190 near the Waikoloa junction, investigators from the Area II Vice Section served a search warrant on the sedan the pair occupied. Police recovered 11 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe containing marijuana.

Hazel Silva and Tuivai Uele were each charged with one count of meth trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug and two counts of drug paraphernalia.

Silva’s bail was set at $56,250 for the drug offenses. She also was arrested and charged on a bench warrant with bail for that set at $300. Uele’s bail was set at $281,000.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $3,500.
