MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Puna patrol officers apprehended a 39-year-old man Thursday (January 15, 2004) who was wanted for illegally taking his daughter.

Acting on information from the East Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section, officers arrested the suspect, Leonard Troy Green, without incident at an address in the Ainaloa Subdivision of Puna.

He was arrested for two counts of violating a court order, one count of custodial interference, one count of contempt and a firearms offense.

With him was his daughter, Natasha K. Green, 12, who was reported in good health.

When arrested, Leonard Green was in possession of a .357 revolver. He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $6,250 bail.

Police had been looking for Green and his daughter since he allegedly violated a temporary restraining order and took his daughter with him from her motherÕs house in Kalapana, Puna, about a week ago.
