Media Release

Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 33-year-old man wanted for assaulting a police officer.

Jayse Lee is described as 5-foot-5, 280 pounds with short black hair. His last known address was in Hilo. He is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Wednesday night, a South Hilo patrol officer attempted to arrest Lee for outstanding warrants. During the arrest, Lee punched the officer in the left eye and then fled on foot.

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe.
