Big Island police are investigating the shooting of a woman who was found alive in a remote forest area in Ka’u on Friday (July 27).

The Police Department received an 11:14 a.m. report that workers from the Department of Water Supply had brought a woman suffering from gunshot wounds out from the forest in Waiohino in the area of Hao Springs Road.

Fire Department personnel took the victim to Kona Community Hospital by helicopter. She was in critical condition.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section in Kona are investigating the case as an attempted murder.
