MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Big Island police have called off the search for a 17-year-old boy reported missing from a detention facility on Oahu since November 4, 2004.

The youth, Julian Benevides, turned himself into police Saturday (January 22, 2005) at the Hilo police station.

On Friday, police issued a request for the public’s help in locating Benevides.
