11-24-21 Police Seek Information Regarding Theft of Vehicles From Hilo DLNR Baseyard

Hawaiʻi Island Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating vehicles which were removed from the DLNR Forest and Wildlife Division baseyard in Hilo in the late evening of November 23, 2021.

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 6:00 a.m., unknown suspect’s cut the front gate padlocks at the DLNR Forest and Wildlife Division on E. Kawili Street in Hilo. The suspect’s then forcefully entered the office area and removed numerous sets of vehicle and ATV keys. 

The suspect’s then removed two State of Hawaii vehicles; a 2007 gold Toyota pickup truck, and a silver 2018 Ford F-350 pickup truck towing a black Great Northern tilt trailer carrying a 2016 dark green Polaris Ranger UTV.

On November 24, 2021 at approximately 9:44 a.m., officers assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), located the stolen 2007 gold Toyota pickup at a private residence on Plumeria Street in Mountain View, Hawaii.

Police ask anyone who may have information regarding the burglary or the whereabouts of the other stolen vehicles to contact the Hawaii Police Department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.
