A man and a woman were charged with various offenses after being found in another person’s home in Hilo.

At 11 p.m. Monday (November 30), South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a report of a possible domestic dispute at a home on the 200 block of Iwalani Street.

They found two people in the house, including a man who had a temporary restraining order against him by the owner, an 86-year-old woman.

Police arrested 30-year-old Davin Mizuno of Hilo and 21-year-old Ashley Szewerda of Mountain View and took them to the Hilo police cellblock while officers continued the investigation.

During the investigation, police determined that a koa jewelry box had been placed in bag belonging to Szewerda. They recovered the jewelry box from the bag and 0.7 grams of heroin, three prescription pills, two marijuana pipes and other drug paraphernalia from Szewerda’s purse.

At two p.m. Wednesday, Mizuno was charged with criminal trespass and violating a court order. His bail was set at $1,500. Szewerda was charged with criminal trespass, theft, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a harmful drug, promoting a detrimental drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $9,000.

Both remained at the cellblock until their initial court appearances on Thursday (December 3).
