3-22-21 Alaska Man Critically Injured While Working on Truck at Honokohau Harbor

A 46-year-old Alaska man was seriously injured following a public accident at the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor on Friday, March 19, 2021.

Responding to a 2:08 p.m. call, police determined that a light blue 1993 Ford F250 pickup truck had run over the man as he was working underneath the vehicle in the parking lot of the Big Island Sailing Foundation at the north side of the harbor. No one was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. 

The man, who has not been positively identified, was transported to the Kona Community Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Hawaii Police Department’s Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit has initiated a public accident investigation and is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Officer Cory Gray at (808) 326-4646 ext. 229 or email at cory.gray@hawaiicounty.gov.
