An 18-year old male student was arrested at a local high school following a report of an unknown-type disturbance on campus.

On May 7, 2024 at approximately 11:14 a.m., officers were assigned to an affray-type call on a high school campus in South Kona.  Prior to officer’s arrival, the male was observed to be on campus yelling and using profanity at school staff.  The school was placed on lockdown until the incident could be resolved.

Police arrived and identified the 18-year old male student as Kalani Piko of Captain Cook.  Officers made multiple requests for Piko to leave the school grounds.  Piko was arrested for Disorderly Conduct after refusing to leave the school and causing alarm to the school staff and students.  The school lockdown was lifted after police removed the male from the school campus.
