MEDIA RELEASE

South Kohala police have arrested a 25-year-old man for burglary after an incident that occurred early Tuesday (April 2, 2002) at the Hilton Waikoloa Village in South Kohala.

The suspect, identified as Glenn Patterson, of a Kailua-Kona address, was confronted by a couple who were inside their hotel room when he allegedly entered the room and began searching through their belongings. The male guest chased the suspect from the room and for a short distance on the hotel grounds, then notified hotel security personnel.

Alerted security guards watched a truck recently parked in the hotel parking lot and detained the suspect as he was returning to the vehicle. They then called the police shortly after midnight.

Police have released the suspect pending further investigation.

The couple reported that nothing was taken in the incident.
