Cause of Woman’s Death Still Undetermined 10-10-00

MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

An autopsy conducted Tuesday (October 10, 2000) on the body of a woman who was found Friday near Wailoa State Park was unable to determine the cause of death. However, the preliminary results indicated there was no foul play involved.

The woman, identified as Carol Jean Carreira, 47, of no permanent address, was found lying in a makeshift shelter in bushes makai of the intersection of Pililani and Mililani Streets in Hilo.

Further autopsy tests, including toxicological tests, will be conducted in an attempt to determine the exact cause of her death.

The case has been classified as a coroner’s inquest.
