James S. Correa will be sworn in as Hawaii County police chief during official ceremonies to be held next week.

Correa, 47, was named police chief by the Hawaii County Police Commission on Friday (January 19, 2001). He was sworn in by Mayor Harry Kim at an informal meeting held at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in the mayor’s office.

The official public ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday (February 1, 2001) on the lanai of the Hilo Public Safety Complex.

The public is invited, and refreshments will be served.
