Police are seeking the public’s help in finding the thief or thieves who stole a unique musical instrument from a car Monday (June 23, 2003) in Waimea, South Kohala.
Responding to a 4 p.m. call, South Kohala patrol officers determined that someone stole the instrument from a car parked at the Parker Ranch Center parking lot.
The instrument was a wooden three-string Appalachian dulcimer, which was wrapped in a Persian rug. The dulcimer, valued at $300, was described as 3-foot-6 in length, six inches wide and three inches deep with a dark brown body and light brown face.
Police are asking anyone with information about the theft or the identity of the thief to call Officer Thomas Fratinardo of the South Kohala Patrol at 887-3080 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
