The Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section and Hawaii Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) are sponsoring a “Click It or Ticket” three-on-three Basketball Tournament on May 18-20, at the Keaau High School Gymnasium.

Team entries are being accepted in the following age groups: 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 for boys; 12 and under, 14 and under and 15-17 for girls. A participant may play only in one division. The age cut-off date is December 31, 2007.

“The goal of the tournament is to educate our parents and youths on our seat belt laws,” said Sergeant Dexter Veriato, head of the Traffic Services Section. “Click It or Ticket” is a national educational and enforcement campaign to increase seat belt usage and decrease traffic fatalities and injuries.

Teams wishing to participate are encouraged to call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219 or 961-2220. HI-PAL’s fax number is 961-2209. Each division will be limited and teams will be required to complete a registration packet prior to the tournament. Completed packets and registration must be turned in on May 4 between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the former receiving desk on the first floor of the Public Safety Building, Building A.
