AUGUST 21, 2003

The Hawaii Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) is sponsoring its annual HI-PAL boys and Girls Intermediate Basketball league.

The League play will run September 15-November 8, 2003.

Teams are formed within public or private intermediate schools with the help of the HI-PAL staff and play against other intermediate schools.

All registered seventh and eighth grade players will go through a draft system within their schools. Home school students and students at schools that cannot form a team will be placed on teams that don’t have enough players.

The league will be limited to the first 18 teams for the boys and 12 teams for the girls.

HI-PAL is also looking for responsible adults interested in coaching a team. Prospective adult coaches must be present at a mandatory meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at the Hilo police station’s training room to confirm they are willing to coach a team.

Anyone interested in participating for a team is asked to call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219 or 961-2220 for more information.
