Seventy-four youths from 10 teams participated in the HI-PAL Click It or Ticket Summer Tournament this past weekend at Keaukaha Gym.

Hoop Dreams claimed the title of the 12-and-under division, out-gunning PGU 42-21 in the finals. Kiaʻi Apele, Shesley Martinez, Keawe Silva and Kaupena Yasso each tallied eight points to lead the champions. Kayden Souza scored 11 to lead the runners-up.

Members of the championship Hoop Dreams squad included Apele, Martinez, Silva, Yasso and teammates Izayah Chartrand, Umi Kealoha, Fuyson Ogata and Keegan Scanlan.

In the 14-and-under division, Kona’s Shut D romped through the competition, completing the tournament with a 4-0 record, including a 52-28 victory over the runners-up, Hoop Dreams. Bryton Lewi led Shut D with 22 points. Randon Arima led Hoop Dreams with 11.

Members of Shut D included Lewi, Mel Oandason, Isaiah Estorpe, Sanjay Thompson, Moses Brooks and Lewko Lai.

Participants of the event were asked to pledge to use their seatbelts.
