HI-PAL signing up teams for ‘Click It’ tourney 07-12-05

The Hawaii Police Department’s Traffic Services Section and the Hawaii Isle Police Activities League will sponsor a “Click It or Ticket” 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

The tournament will be played on July 27-30, 2005, at the Mountain View Gym.

Team entries are being accepted in the following age groups in each of the separate boys and girls divisions: 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-16. A player may play in only one division, and the age cut-off date is December 31, 2005.

“The goal of the tournament is to educate our parents and youths on our seat belt laws,” said Sergeant Dexter Veriato, head of the Traffic Services Section. “Click It or Ticket” is a national educational and enforcement campaign to increase seat belt usage and decrease traffic fatalities and injuries.

Interested teams should call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219 or the Traffic Services Section at 961-2305. Each division will be limited to eight teams. Teams must complete a registration packet to enter the tournament by the July 21, 2005 deadline. Packets will not be accepted after that date.
