The Hawaii Isle Police Activities League is sponsoring the 2004 HI-PAL Summer Basketball League for East Hawaii.

The league is open to boys and girls in the following age divisions: 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10. There will also be a Girls 12 & Under and Girls 14 & Under Division. Players may participate in only one division.

The league games will start on June 14 and end on July 26, 2004.

There is a limit on the number of teams allowed in each division. The deadline for the other divisions will be May 29, 2004.

Registration for teams in the 11-12 and 13-14 divisions start on June 1, 2004.

A mandatory meeting for the coaches of all 8 & Under, 9 & 10 and all girls divisions will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 27, in the training room of the Police Department’s Hilo headquarters. The topics to be discussed include league format, rules and regulations and the starting date.

Boys and girls who have reached the age to participate in one of the age divisions are eligible to play. Players who played for their high school at the junior varsity or varsity level will be ineligible.

Anyone interested in entering the league is asked to call the HI-PAL office at 961-2220 or 961-2219 as soon as possible.
