Police have arrested a 49-year-old man in the shooting death of a Hilo man Saturday (May 15, 1999) in Hilo’s Panaewa area.

The victim was identified as Randolph Hall, 37, of Hilo.

Police arrested the suspect, Van Kahumoku, 49, of a Mountain View, Puna, address, and are holding him pending further investigation.

Responding to a 1:29 a.m. call of a shooting incident, South Hilo patrol officers arrived at an Auwae Road address to find the victim with apparent gunshot wounds. Hall was taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:20 a.m.

Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives are continuing the murder investigation.
