Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a gas compressor and trailer stolen from Goodale Airstrip in Ka’u.

The compressor and trailer were stolen sometime between January 17 and 20, 2003, from the airstrip, which is located about a mile outside Pahala in a macadamia nut orchard.

The compressor is described as a 1997 Q Series 125 Grimmer Schmidt model with blue housing and a white cover. It has the serial number 125-14580 and runs on a Ford 302-V8 engine, No. 05561. The compressor, trailer and tow hitch are valued at $14,000.

Anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the stolen compressor is asked to call Officer Hayden Akamu of the Ka’u Patrol at 939-2520 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
