MEDIA RELEASE

The hours for obtaining a driver’s license or registering firearms will be limited during most of the month of June 1999 at the Kapaau, North Kohala, police station.

Starting June 9 and ending June 30, the station will process driver’s licenses and register firearms from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. During that period, road tests will be given by appointment only.

North Kohala residents may still obtain a driver’s license or register firearms from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Waimea police station.

At the Waimea station, written tests are given until 3:30 p.m., and road tests are available from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. every weekday except Tuesdays.

Starting Thursday, July 1, 1999, the Kapaau station will resume normal hours for obtaining driver’s licenses and registering firearms.
