On August 23, 2010 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Kona police responded to a report of a possible drowning in a pool at a Kailua-Kona hotel.

Upon arrival, bystanders were administering CPR to a 54-year-old female who had been pulled unresponsive from the bottom of a pool.

The female was transported to the Kona Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 9:16 p.m. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of the next of kin.
