Media Release (update)

Big Island police have identified a 77-year-old woman who died July 31 after being involved in a one-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Lako Street and Hualalai Road.

She was identified as Marianne Smith Dean of Pleasanton, California.

An autopsy determined that she died of respiratory arrest. Because the crash didn’t cause her death, this doesn’t count as a traffic fatality for statistical purposes.
