MEDIA RELEASE

In an effort to better serve the public, the Hawaii Police Department is advising the public about procedural revisions to firearms registration at the Kealakehe police station.

Effective August 1, 2006, for a three-month trial period, registration of firearms will be by appointment only. Appointments will be taken between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays. The public is welcome to call 326-4646, extension 254, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to make an appointment or for firearms inquiries.

Questions and comments about the revised hours should be directed to the district commander, Captain Paul Kealoha, at 326-4646, extension 253.
