Kona detectives have arrested a Kona woman in the shooting of a 21-year-old Honaunau man who was shot early Saturday (April 5, 2003) while in an argument with his girlfriend.

The suspect, a 47-year-old woman, was arrested and released pending further investigation into the case by Kona Criminal Investigation Section detectives.

Responding to a 12:49 a.m. call, Kona Patrol officers determined that a male with a gunshot wound was admitted to the Kona Community Hospital, where he was treated for a minor gunshot wound in the upper leg and released.

Investigating Kona CIS detectives later determined that the victim had gotten into an argument with his 39-year-old girlfriend at the suspect’s Kainaliu home.

The victim was shot with a .38-caliber as he was leaving the area.

Kona CIS detectives are continuing an investigation into the incident.
