Big Island police responded to a report of shots fired in the old industrial area of Kailua-Kona on Wednesday evening(December 20).

Responding to a 10:11 p.m. call, Kona patrol officers determined that a 32-year-old man received a gunshot wound. Fire/Rescue personnel took him to Kona Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He is listed in guarded condition.

Two men were arrested at the scene and are being held in custody pending further investigation.

Criminal Investigations Section detectives have initiated an attempted murder investigation.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the shooting or who has any additional information to call the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
