Man, 68, apparently drowns off Kailua-Kona 07-20-05

A 68-year-old man apparently drowned Wednesday in waters off Kailua-Kona.

The victim was identified as Cyril Buking, of a Honaunau address in South Kona.

Buking was found floating face down about 10 feet from the shore. Bystanders pulled the victim from the water and administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation until fire rescue personnel arrive.

The victim was taken to the Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:48 p.m.

Police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and have classified the incident as a coroner’s request.
