Media Release

Big Island police are looking for a 10-year-old girl reported as missing who failed to return home on August 19.

Shellsea Gouveia-Asuncion of Holualoa is described as part Portuguese about 4-foot-5, about 90 pounds with brown eyes and short black hair. She was last seen riding a blue BMX mongoose bicycle on the Old Mamalahoa Highway in the Holualoa town area. She was wearing a yellow SpongeBob sleeveless shirt and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information on her whereabouts to call Acting Detective Walter Ah Mow at 326-4646, extension 265, or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
