Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Puna man who was reported missing on Wednesday (September 12).

Derek Lopes, 45, has been missing from his Kahakai Boulevard home since Monday morning (September 10). He is described at Caucasian, between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11, about 190 pounds with brown eyes and graying hair. He has a bald spot on his head and a large scar on his right shoulder. It is his practice to wear shorts and a baseball cap.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call Officer Lawrence Kobayashi at 961-2213 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
