MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Police have identified the badly burned body found in the remains of a Hilo residence on Sunday (July 6, 2003) as Kim Wissing, 49, of 66 Makakai Place.

Criminal Investigation Section detectives said Wissing was identified through dental records.

Police and fire investigators have not yet determined the cause of Wissing’s death or the cause of the fire that destroyed his residence in the Honolii Lookout area.

Police and firefighters are conducting an investigation into the cause of the blaze.

Responding to a 6:53 a.m. report of a structure fire Sunday, police and fire units arrived to find the residence fully engulfed in flames.

After fire personnel extinguished the blaze, police and firefighters found the body in the lower level of the structure.
