Police Seek Help in Solving ATV Theft 09-20-01

Police are seeking the public’s help in solving the theft of an all-terrain vehicle from a South Kona nursery earlier this week.

Sometime between 6 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2001, and 7 a.m. the following morning, a thief or thieves stole a green Yamaha Kodiak 4×4 ATV from the nursery, located in the Waiea area on the Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook.

The vehicle was valued at an estimated $6,300.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Officer Jeremy Lewis of the Kona Patrol at 326-4646 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
