Chief Lawrence K. Mahuna has promoted nine Big Island police officers from the rank of sergeant/detective to lieutenant, effective July 1.

The new lieutenants have been assigned to the following sections:

Lieutenant Miles Chong – Vice Section, Area II

Lieutenant Jeremie C.O. Evangelista – Kona Patrol

Lieutenant Gilbert Gaspar – Kona Patrol

Lieutenant Darren Horio – Kona Patrol

Lieutenant Samuel Kawamoto – Special Response Team

Lieutenant Richard Sherlock – Vice Section, Area I

Lieutenant Burt Shimabukuro – South Hilo Patrol

Lieutenant Harold L. Sumaoang – Kona Patrol

Lieutenant Aimee Wana – Communications Section
