Puna Robbery Suspect Surrenders 12-08-00

A 23-year-old Puna man sought by police turned himself in Friday (December 8, 2000).

The man, Paul Hyram Vaivai, turned himself in at Keaau police station at 6:54 a.m. He is being held in police cellblock in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Vaivai, also known as “Kawika,” has been indicted by a grand jury for second-degree robbery.

During the robbery, which took place July 31, 2000, in the Nanawale Estates subdivision of Puna, the victim was struck on the head with a pipe and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.
