MEDIA RELEASE (CORRECTS PHONE NUMBER)

Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons who stole art from the Connections Charter School at the Kress Building in Hilo.

A teacher at the school reported that the art pieces disappeared from the school’s art gallery sometime between May 5 and May 6. The drawings were made by students in the school’s art program. They were displayed for public viewing on the lower level of the building, near the Kamehameha Avenue entrance.

The pieces consisted of a green chalk pastel drawing of a manta ray, a blue chalk and oil pastel drawing of two dolphins, a colored pencil drawing of an underwater scene, and a colored pencil drawing of seashells.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.
