Media Release

Big Island police are investigating the theft of a trailer in the Oʻokala area.

Sometime between Tuesday (May 10) and Wednesday (May 11), a black PJ Gooseneck flatbed trailer was removed from the mauka side of the Hawai’i Belt Road between the 32- and 33-mile markers. Around 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, a brown older-model Ford pickup truck was seen with its hood up next to the parked trailer.

The trailer, valued at $18,000, had an Oregon license plate, H584726. It was loaded with $40,000 worth of glass paneling. Police located the glass, which had been dumped and shattered along the makai side of the Hawai’i Belt Road between the 33- and 34-mile markers.

Police ask that anyone with any information on this case call Officer Christopher Ragasa at 962-2120 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
