MEDIA RELEASES UPDATE

A 19-year-old youth was charged Friday (April 27, 2001) with sexual assault and other offenses resulting from a burglary that occurred November 28, 2000, in Hawi, North Kohala.

Ezra Bob Kamauokalani Mahu, formerly of Hawi, was arrested in Hilo by Hilo Juvenile Aid Section detectives on the strength of a warrant for arrest prepared by Kona JAS detectives. He was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count each of first-degree burglary and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Mahu, who is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $140,000 bail, had been on supervised release after being charged in an earlier burglary that occurred November 11, 2001, in Kapaau, North Kohala. In that case, Mahu was charged with first-degree burglary and attempted second-degree sexual assault.
