Two Houses Destroyed by Fire 12/04/99

MEDIA RELEASE

Two homes burned to the ground Friday (December 3, 1999) in separate fires in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates in the Ka’u District.

Responding to a 2:32 a.m. call, police and firefighters arrived to find a three-bedroom house on Orchid Parkway above Walaka Drive engulfed in flames.

Damages to the vacant wooden structure and its contents were estimated at $85,000.

In the second fire, police and firefighters responded to an 11:37 p.m. call to find a wooden house burned to the ground on Iwalani Parkway above Outrigger Drive.

Damages to the vacant structure and its contents have not yet been determined.

Fire inspectors will try to determine the causes of the two fires.
