MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Big Island police arrested and charged two more suspects sought in an armed robbery that occurred early Thursday (July 17, 2003) in Puna.

The two suspects, ages 14 and 15, were charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and first-degree terroristic threatening. After being charged Tuesday (July 22, 2003), they were turned over to Family Court juvenile authorities.

The two juveniles were among four who have been arrested and charged in the robbery, which reportedly involved five male suspects. Two adult suspects have turned themselves in to police, and a fifth suspect is still at large.

One suspect, Brandon Jason Enos, 21, of no permanent address, gave himself up to police Monday. He was charged Wednesday (July 23, 2003) with one count each of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and first-degree terroristic threatening. He was also charged with two firearms offenses, possession of a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches long and illegal place to keep a firearm.

Enos is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Another suspect in the robbery, Waimoku Lum Ho, 19, of a Hilo address, was charged Friday with one count each of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree terroristic threatening, promotion of a detrimental drug and possession of illegal drug paraphernalia and two counts of illegal place to keep a weapon.

The robbery occurred early Thursday when five males forced their way into a residence on Ka’ohe Homestead Road near Pahoa. Two of the robbers were armed with firearms and one was armed with a bow and arrow.

The victim said the robbers demanded drugs and cash, and after being told he had no drugs, the robbers took some marijuana and personal items and then fled the residence on foot.

Patrol officers responding to the victim’s 911 call spotted several males walking along Ka’ohe Homestead Road and arrested Lum Ho. The rest fled into the surrounding heavy brush.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the fifth robber is asked to call Detective Richard Sherlock of the Hilo CIS at 961-2379 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
