Two wounded in Puna shooting 11-28-02

Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives are investigating an attempted murder case in which two men were wounded Wednesday (November 27, 2002) in the Hawaiian Acres subdivision of Kurtistown, Puna.

At 11:25 p.m., Puna patrol officers received a report at the Keaau Police Station that an adult male had been shot and driven to the Keaau Fire Station for emergency treatment. At the same time, police received another report of an adult male with gunshot wounds at a Hawaiian Acres subdivision residence.

A preliminary investigation of both reports determined that the shooting incidents were related.

Subsequently, the two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds were taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where one male, 55, was treated and released and the other, 32, was confined in critical condition.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is continuing.
