MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Hawaii County police have called off a search for a 16-year-old boy who gave himself up Monday (March 3, 2003).

The boy, Stephen Whitney, had been missing from his Hilo residence since November 30, 2002.

Whitney had also been wanted for a probation violation, unsworn falsification and escape. After being arrested, he was charged with unsworn falsification and escape.

He was then returned to the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility on Oahu.
