2-08-21 Police Identify Pedestrian Killed in Mountain View Collision

Media Release

 A 54-year-old man who died at Queens Medical Center as a result of a motor vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, on Kahikopele Road in Mountain View has been identified by Hawai‘i Island police as Aaron L. Sombrio of Mountain View, Hawaii.

Police responded to a 7:40 p.m. traffic collision on February 3, 2021, and determined that a 2002 GMC Sonoma pickup truck was traveling east on Kahikopele Road and struck Sombrio who was believed to be walking east on the roadway.

The East Hawaii Traffic Enforcement Unit has initiated a negligent homicide investigation and is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information to contact Acting Sergeant Jared Cabatu at (808) 961-2329 or via email jared.cabatu@hawaiicounty.gov.
