Hawaiʻi Island police have located 35-year-old Josiah Ikaika Konanui of Hilo, who was wanted on a bench warrant and for a burglary.

Konanui was arrested by the Area I Burglary Task Force on Friday (October 3) and charged with first-degree burglary, fourth degree theft and contempt of court. His bail was set at $6,250.

The burglary occurred in September 2013. A 45-year-old man reported that numerous items, including fishing poles, had been removed from his home in Hawaiian Beaches. Police investigation led to the recovery of some of the items and to the identity of the suspect.

Last month police asked for the public’s help in locating Konanui.

After his arrest, he was held at the Hilo police cellblock until his initial court appearance on Monday (October 6).
